Ontario’s police watchdog says a 33-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Windsor on Sunday after authorities attempted to stop a pickup truck.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said a Windsor police officer saw “a pickup truck of interest” heading northbound on St. Luke Road at around 4 p.m. and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
“The pickup truck did not stop and continued travelling northbound on St. Luke Road at a high rate of speed,” according to the SIU.
In a Monday statement, the agency said the pickup was then involved in a collision with two other vehicles — one being a Dodge Journey. The driver of that SUV succumbed to their injuries.
That crash occurred in the area of St. Luke Road and Seminole Street.
The SIU is urging anyone with information about the investigation, including video or photos, to contact them.
