Police identify woman killed in hit-and-run crash in Portland, Maine

Police have released the name of a woman who died after being hit by a pickup truck in Portland last week.

The Portland Police Department says Nichele Roakes, 57, of Portland, was crossing Forest Avenue on foot at about 9:18 p.m. on Aug. 24 when she was hit near the entrance road to Hannaford. Witnesses say she was hit by a dark-colored pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and the truck was last seen headed toward downtown.

As of Monday, police did not have any new information about the driver.

Police were asking anyone who witnessed the crash, has information about the incident, or may have surveillance, dashcam, doorbell, or other video from the area at the time of the crash to contact them at 207-874-8575.
