Jordan and Kuwait said they had intercepted fresh attacks from Iran overnight, after Tehran announced further strikes on US military bases in the region.
Jordan said it had intercepted and destroyed 10 ballistic missiles fired from Iran, while three others crashed in remote areas, state news agency Petra reported early on Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
Kuwait’s military said its air defences had also repelled “attacks by hostile drones” from Iran, adding that explosions heard across the Gulf state were caused by the interceptions.
Iran had earlier said it targeted US military bases in Jordan in retaliation for previous US attacks. Iran had already attacked US bases in the country overnight into Monday.
Iranian media also reported attacks on a US base in Bahrain, though there was initially no official confirmation.
The United States and Iran reported fresh attacks against each other on Tuesday. US President Donald Trump said the US had again targeted Iranian sites near the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil trade.
Shortly afterwards, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement carried by state media that it had launched retaliatory attacks, targeting US bases across the region with missiles and drones.
