MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – University of Wisconsin-Whitewater said Wednesday there is no threat to life after an emergency alert was sent out earlier in the day.
A campus safety alert posted just after 11 a.m. said the campus community was asked to shelter in place unless told otherwise.
UW-Whitewater Police Department and Walworth County Sheriff’s Office squad cars were seen outside Andersen Library, according to a student on campus.

The university said police were checking university buildings on the Whitewater campus.
UW-Whitewater said around 11:37 a.m. that police confirmed there was no threat to safety when the alert system was activated.
Officials said they would share more information at a later time.
The fall semester started Wednesday.
The Rock County campus is not affected.
