Numbers soar over the last ten years, new figures show

HSE middle managers on salaries of up to €98,200 have seen the biggest boost in numbers in the last 10 years amid an ongoing rise in administrative workers.
Figures show 4,057 Grade 5 to 8 middle managers in 2015, but their numbers jumped to 9,500 by May of this year. It comes against an overall increase in administrative workers in the HSE – up by nearly 9,000, from 18,182 in 2015 to 27,096.
