Police sniffer dogs have searched a high school in East Kilbride after a hoax bomb threat.
Officers were alerted to a “malicious communication” posted by an anonymous social media account on Monday as well as “subsequent online messaging”, which claimed explosives had been hidden at Calderglen High School.
The account also named Duncanrig High School as a possible target.
Police Scotland said they had swept the area with specialist resources but nothing of concern was found.
Ch Insp Paul Doyle said: “Officers will continue to have an increased presence in the area and anyone with concerns can speak to them or call us on 101.
“I want to be clear: making hoax threats is a criminal offence and we’re doing all we can to trace the person responsible.”
The threats have caused concern in the local community, with some parents posting online that they would keep their children home from school.
However both schools remain open.
South Lanarkshire Council has been contacted for comment.
