Dublin brought the European leg of Oasis’ reunion tour to a close in spectacular fashion over the weekend with two amazing Croke Park gigs.
Two of the most highly-anticipated concerts in Irish history, the return of the Gallagher brothers to an Irish stage did not disappoint, as packed out crowds filled GAA HQ on Saturday and Sunday night.

By all accounts, anyone who was lucky enough to get into Croker came back with rave reviews, with the phrase “biblical” borrowed from Liam Gallagher with great frequency.
Tickets were like gold dust, with tens of thousands of fans left disappointed in the rush for tickets late last summer.
With that, huge crowds assembled directly outside the stadium on both nights of Oasis’ Dublin jaunt, hoping to hear the band back in action on Irish soil for the first time in 16 years.
An incredible clip was shared to Oasis’ Instagram page, showing the massive crowd singing along to the endlessly popular ‘Half the World Away.’
It was quintessentially Irish, and perhaps summed up the frenzy of the weekend better than any other footage.
Oasis’ reunion tour had already brought them to Cardiff, Manchester, London, and Edinburgh, accompanied by The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft as support act.
The atmosphere around all of these gigs was next level, but Ashcroft thinks the scenes outside Croke Park may have trumped them all.

The Verve frontman was emotional as he described the ‘healing, celebratory event’ that has been the reunion tour, and gave a special mention to the scenes outside Croke Park.
Ashcroft said that the crowds gathering outside the stadium in Drumcondra captured the fact that these gigs are not “just nostalgia.”
We need to find a new word, because this ain’t just nostalgia. This is right here, right now.
You feel like that city, that stadium…like, Croke Park the other night felt like the centre of the universe. It was the most now, happening, real place you could be on the planet.
The same for the people on the street. You see the footage of the people singing on the street, it was beautiful. It’s just something unique. It’s not just a nostalgic experience.
I’ve said that to Noel, I said, ‘Mate, this is humbling, it could retire me or it could inspire me!’
I’m definitely going to get the acoustic guitar out after this tour, it’s inspired me.
We always hear acts taking to the stage and saying that Irish crowds are unlike crowds anywhere else, but Richard Ashcroft’s emotional take on Oasis’ comeback might just drive it home better than anything else.
Anyone who was inside (or just outside) Croke Park on Saturday or Sunday will never forget the weekend of Oasis’ return.
