President Donald Trump assured everyone things will turn out “fine and dandy” when it comes to the Iran war following an attack on a critical Middle Eastern pipeline.
Trump spoke to reporters alongside Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin on Saturday during a two-day visit to Ireland, and he confirmed he spoke with Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, after a Saudi pipeline was temporarily closed over a drone attack on Friday.
Asked when the war with Iran will end, Trump insisted the conflict would conclude shortly after the midterm elections:
I think very soon. I think it will be probably right after the midterms. They’re trying to hold out as long as they can to complicate the election. But I think people are wise to it because Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. It’s very simple. This is a very simple thing. Iran cannot have — they were two weeks away from having a nuclear weapon. If they had it, they would have blown up Israel. They would have blown up the Middle East, and they would have hit some of Europe’s, in my opinion, Europe’s cities and beyond cities. And they would have probably hit us too, before we put put out the fire. But they cannot have a nuclear weapon. But I would say shortly. And oil will come tumbling down when that happens, oil prices will come tumbling down.
Saudi’s 745-mile pipeline, which handles approximately 5% of the world’s oil supply, was hit with a drone attack on Friday. Trump said it was “probably” Iran that was behind the attack. Iran has also been responsible for numerous drone attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, where roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply moves through.
“I have made a call with MBS. He’s a good friend of mine, and it’s going to — I can just say everything’s going to work out fine and dandy. It’s going to be very good,” Trump said, then doubling down on the war coming to an end after the midterms.
