A man in his 20s has been killed in a single vehicle collision in Cork in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the collision that occurred at approximately 6.50am on the M8 (J18) road Southbound, Upper Riverstown, Glanmire.

The victim was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. He was pronounced deceased this afternoon.

The road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area between 6:40 am and 7:15 am this morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
