Arson suspect dead after shooting involving Elk Grove police
A suspected arsonist in Elk Grove died after a chase that led to an officer shooting at him, according to police.
The Elk Grove Police Department said officers responded to reports of a person starting fires at a residence in the 8600 block of Bradshaw Road.
The suspect was found near Bradshaw Road and Waterman Boulevard and proceeded to run away, leading police through multiple rural properties, officials said.
According to police, the male suspect was seen with a firearm. An officer fired their service weapon at the suspect, they later confirmed the suspect was not hit.
Police said the suspect took his own life, but did not confirm how it happened. An investigation is underway but Bradshaw Road is still open.
