The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) is investigating a fatal shooting in the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road in Rockville, near Potomac Woods Plaza.
MCPD and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the scene early Sunday, September 13. In an initial update issued at approximately 2:50 a.m., police said an adult man had been found in serious condition.
Police later announced that the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. MCPD’s Major Crimes Division has been notified. No suspect information has been released, and no one is currently in custody.

MCPD provided the following summary of events: “The following is a brief summary of events regarding a Rockville homicide.
On Sunday, September 13, 2026, at approximately 2:02 a.m., Montgomery County Department of Police 1st District and Rockville City Police officers, as well as Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim with serious injuries and immediately began rendering aid. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time no one is in custody and there is no suspect information available. The Major Crimes Division Homicide Unit is investigating this case.
More information will be released as it becomes available, including the identity of the victim following proper next of kin notification.”
