A ride home from work on public transit turned deadly for a Chicago man, and police say a 15-year-old girl helped push him off a moving train, USA Today reports. The teen has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other felonies in the Sept. 7 death of 29-year-old Kyle T. Bickham, who officials say fell onto the electrified third rail and was then hit by another train. ABC 7 and CBS Chicago report there may have been an altercation aboard the train before the afternoon incident took place.
Chicago police say several people were involved and two suspects remain at large. Authorities have not released a possible motive and did not say whether the girl might be tried as an adult. Bickham’s relatives, who say he worked at an Amazon warehouse in Cicero and was on his way home when he died, gathered at the 69th Street station, near where he died, to urge witnesses and the remaining suspects to come forward. “They took happiness. They took sunshine. They just took the world from me,” Bickham’s father says. (A Boston teen was recently killed by the third rail while trying to help his girlfriend.)
