3-year-old is among 7 victims of shooting at Douglass Homes, Baltimore police say
BALTIMORE —
A 3-year-old is among seven victims of a shooting in East Baltimore, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said.
According to preliminary information, officers were called after 9 p.m. Wednesday to the 1400 block of East Fayette Street for reports of gunshots.
Police said seven victims were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
“There is no way, to those individuals, there is no way for you to reclaim humanity after doing that. But, if you want to try to save yourself and save your soul, turn yourself in,” Mayor Brandon Scott said during a news conference. “Everybody in the Goddamn city should be looking looking for you.”
Fayette and Caroline streets remain blocked during to the investigation.
Worley said there is no ongoing threat to the public, but police presence remains in the area.
“It appears that all the gunfire was shot in one direction,” Worley said when asked about a motive. Worley was not able to confirm how many suspects police are looking for.
Johns Hopkins Hospital, located less than half a mile from the scene, said the it is operating normally.
