Armed police descended on one part of Liverpool this evening following reports a weapon had been spotted in the area. Armed officers were seen in Dingle on Park Road, Isaac Street and Jacob Street, with several people stating there had been a shooting.

Merseyside Police attended the scene, with photographs showing officers had put a cordon in place. While the force confirmed to the ECHO it had received reports of a weapon in the area, no weapons were found and no firearms were found to have been discharged in the area.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police described “two groups of youths” having had a “skirmish”, with no arrests being made. When the ECHO spoke to the force at around 6.20pm, the force incident manager said officers were in the process of standing down.

In several photos seen by the ECHO, armed police can be seen along Isaac Street, as well as walking along Park Road.
