MSHP: Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd was at center of criminal investigation
Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd was at the center of a Missouri State Highway Patrol investigation before his death, authorities confirmed.
On June 15, the Platte County sheriff requested that the MSHP’s Division of Drug and Crime Control investigate criminal allegations against Zahnd, according to an MSHP spokesperson.
No details were provided about the nature of those allegations, but highway patrol officials say the investigation is “still considered active and ongoing.”
The news comes shortly after Zahnd died Thursday, prompting a closure of the Platte County Courthouse.
Zahnd was the longest serving prosecuting attorney in Platte County history.
