Fine Gael presidential candidate Heather Humphreys may have been a notable absentee from the Virginia Show in Co Cavan on Wednesday, but that didn’t stop an intensifying of the groundswell of support that has come her way in the 48 hours since formally entering the Áras race.
Ms Humphreys opted to stay away from a show at which she has become a regular fixture over the years as, one by one, a growing cohort of parliamentary party members rowed in behind her candidacy.
