An urgent search has been launched for two girls in Queensland after the pair disappeared on Wednesday evening.

Officers have pleaded for assistance to find the two children reported missing from Bethania, about 33km south of Brisbane.

The girls were last seen near Spanns Road and Logan River Road in the residential suburb of Holmview around 11.30pm on Wednesday, police said.

The 10-year-old girl is described as Caucasian, approximately 150cm tall, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing black leggings, a brown t-shirt, and grey/white runners.

The 6-year-old girl is described as Caucasian, approximately 130cm tall, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a lime green skirt, grey hoodie and had bare feet.

Family and police are concerned for their welfare due to their young age.

Anyone who may have seen them has been urged to contact police.
