An enigma: Nick Croydon, the CEO of QBD Books, is copping a bit of flak for his debut novel, The Turing Protocol. It’s a thriller in which, for some reason, the British mathematician Alan Turing — who killed himself after accepting chemical castration over prison when persecuted for being gay — has sex with a woman and fathers a child.
Turns out some readers aren’t happy, drowning the book’s Goodreads page in a wave of 1-star reviews.
