Teacher shot at Highland Middle School in Hobbs
HOBBS, N.M. —
Police are investigating after a teacher was shot at Highland Middle School in Hobbs on Friday.
According to the Hobbs Fire Department, they received a call about a shooting at Highland Middle School on Friday morning. When they arrived, they say a teacher had been shot and was transported to the hospital.
Hobbs police say the victim was shot multiple times.
Police took a juvenile suspect into custody after a short chase on foot in the area surrounding the school.
Due to the incident at the middle school, officials have canceled the Hobbs High School homecoming parade and have rescheduled the varsity football game. The football game will be played on Saturday morning.
