Russian airstrikes on Ukraine have again killed and wounded civilians, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday, with two people killed in the city of Zaporizhzhya and 14 wounded nationwide.
Zelensky wrote on social media that attacks had also struck Kiev as well as the Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Vinnytsia regions.
During the day, the Russian Air Force struck the city of Sumy in north-eastern Ukraine, killing at least two people and wounding at least six, according to official figures.
In Dnipro, two people were killed in a Russian airstrike. Two more residents of the city were wounded in the attack, regional military administrator Oleksandr Hanzha said on Telegram.
“It is important that our partners do not forget: Russia escalates every day,” he said. Tougher sanctions from the US and the EU were therefore needed, he said.
Zelensky confirmed Ukrainian drone strikes on the Ilsk refinery in the southern Russian Krasnodar region and a weapons factory in the Rostov region.
On Friday, Russian drone strikes on the capital Kiev killed seven people and wounded 59.
Speaking in St Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened even harder strikes against Ukraine, presenting this as a response to a large Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow on the day of the Russian parliamentary election.
Ukraine has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion since February 2022.
Ukrainian drone strikes also cause casualties
In the Kherson region, which is occupied by Russian forces, a Ukrainian drone struck a café, killing two young women, according to the Russian state agency TASS. Two wounded people were recovered from the rubble.
In the southern Russian city of Belgorod, a Ukrainian drone struck a car, wounding two female occupants, authorities said.
None of the reports could be independently verified.
