The president said the regime “overplayed their hand” in suggesting the reopening of the waterway for 7 days to restart nuclear talks.
President Donald Trump refused the Islamic Republic’s offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for 7 days in exchange for renewed discussions on a nuclear deal.
“I expect more talks with Iran. They want to make a deal, but it is not the deal that I want to make. It is what we would have maybe agreed to a year ago,” President Trump said in an interview. “They overplayed their hand.”
The president stated that he believes the U.S. will win the war with Iran, both militarily and economically. “I think we’ll win it both ways. We’ve already won it from a military standpoint, but that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped that,” he said. “If you look at their economy, it’s gone. They have no economy.”
President Trump responded, when asked if military strikes on Iran were an option before the midterm elections, “I don’t want to say that. I mean, it’s possible, but I just don’t want to say that.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
For President Trump to be led by the Lord as he considers options regarding Iran.
For God’s protection over the men and women serving in the U.S. military, especially those in the Middle East.
For discernment for U.S. voters as they consider candidates for election to federal, state, and local offices.
