A large part of Nottingham city centre was cordoned off after a man was stabbed.

Footage showed the area directly outside the Broad Marsh Bus Station and Car Park, in Canal Street, taped off by officers, with police cars and an ambulance within the cordon.

Police say they were called just before 5pm on October 2 to reports that a man had been stabbed.

The male victim is in hospital with injuries that police say are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Chief Inspector Craig Berry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This assault took place in a busy location and we believe there may be witnesses or people with recorded footage of the incident.

“We would urge them to get in touch without delay.”

Buses were disrupted as well. Trentbarton has tweeted to say: “The disruption is due to a police incident on Canal Street near Broad Marsh Bus Station.

“As a result, for the time being, all services are diverting via Trent Bridge, London Road and Canal Street in both directions to access and leave Broad Marsh Bus Station.

“Unfortunately, whilst this diversion is in place, we are unable to serve the following stops in either direction: Ryehill Street, Eugene Gardens, Lammas Gardens, Arkwright Street, and Nottingham Railway Station.

“If you’re travelling to or from these areas, please use the nearest available stops at either Broad Marsh Bus Station or Victoria Embankment instead.

“We’re sorry for the disruption and thank you for your patience while the emergency services deal with the incident.”
