A mother of two from Northern Ireland has died in hospital after sustaining a brain injury in a road traffic collision in Dublin.

Danielle O’Keane, 37, was involved in a crash on North Wall Quay at around 11pm on Saturday, September 26. She was taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she was placed in intensive care and put on a ventilator.

Ms O’Keane, from Newry, had attended a Westlife concert at Dublin’s 3Arena with friends that evening. After the concert, she was travelling towards the city centre in a rickshaw when it hit a kerb, the Irish Mirror reports. She sadly died from her injuries on Thursday, October 1.

Her death notice on Funeral Times reads: “O’Keane (née Mullan) (Saval, Newry) died 1 October 2026 as the result of an accident.

“Danielle R.I.P. Much-loved wife of Dave and dear mother of [two]. Beloved daughter of Michael and Pauline, and dear sister of Barry and her twin Sean. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul.

“Funeral arrangements later. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, children, parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, mother-in-law Dolores, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, family circle and friends.”
