The northern West Bank is becoming a mini-Gaza. The drive along the broad roads leading from the northeastern West Bank toward Jenin and the northern crossing into Israel, the Gilboa checkpoint, is bleak. The roads are lined with silent ruins. Until recently, this was the West Bank’s last remaining refuge – the only district without settlements, settler violence and much of a military presence. In recent months, it too has fallen into the settlers’ hands.
