EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) — A driver was killed in a north suburban rollover crash near Northwestern University on Friday night, Evanston police said.
Police said officers and the Evanston Fire Department responded to Simpson Street and Sherman Avenue just before 6:30 p.m.

There, first responders found an SUV on its side, police said. The driver, a 56-year-old Evanston man, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The man’s name was not immediately released, and what caused the crash was not immediately clear.
Police said the crash appeared to be unrelated to the Northwestern football game or associated event traffic.
Sherman Avenue was closed between Foster Street and Gaffield Place while emergency personnel and investigators worked at the scene until about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Major Crash Assistance Team responded to assist with the investigation.
Authorities did not immediately provide additional information.
