Roy Keane was full of praise for Damien Duff’s time as Shelbourne manager on the latest episode of The Overlap on Youtube, and left the panel surprised with a later remark about the midfielder.

A new episode of The Overlap, featuring Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott was released on Thursday morning, and has certainly raised a few eyebrows for one comment in particular from Keane.

Elsewhere in the episode, Keane showed off some of his collection of worn jerseys, including the jersey he wore on his FA Cup debut for Nottingham Forest.

Keane surprised the panel, and viewers online, later in the episode when he was asked whop would be his choice for assistant coach if he was to step foot back in the managerial ring. Among the answers given by the group, Neville picked his brother Phil, while Carragher picked Xabi Alonso.

Keane Full Of Praise On Damien Duff’s Time With Shelbourne

Roy Keane rather candidly gave his answer, Damien Duff.

While he admitted that he was not close with the former Chelsea and Ireland midfielder, Keane was full of praise for the former Shels manager, and is clearly a fan of his work.

He’s done a good job in Ireland, and he’s just left a job.

It’s his dynamics; the way he speaks, the way he comes across

He’s been up at Celtic, he’s done his coaching with Ireland. He won the league with Shelbourne last year, but then he just left recently.

The rest of the panel were surprised with Keane’s pick, before Keane joked at the dynamic between the pair would be in the dressing room.

He’d be the bad cop and I’d be the good cop.

This link-up would certainly make for some entertaining viewing.

Damien Duff’s former side are in action on Thursday evening against Northern Irish side Linfield in a Conference League Qualifier. Kick off is at 7:45pm.
