SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) — A fast-growing wildfire is burning in the Angeles National Forest, triggering a large response from fire officials and evacuations northeast of Santa Clarita.
The Bouquet Fire was first reported shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Bouquet Canyon Road and Quarry Road in the Angeles National Forest.
The fire was burning at a rapid rate of spread, triggering evacuation orders and warnings for several Los Angeles County zones. Within just a couple of hours, the fire ballooned to 710 acres, according to the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) – Angeles National Forest.
Then by 6:55 p.m., the fire had grown to at least 1,000 acres, according to the Cal Fire incidents page.
By later Saturday night, fire crews began to get the blaze under control. On Sunday night, the fire was 30% contained and measured at 1,048 acres.
Los Angeles County firefighters have been battling the flames from the air and the ground since Saturday afternoon, but around 6 p.m., fixed-wing firefighting aircraft were grounded for the night because of low visibility. Now, multiple night-flying helicopters have been assigned, and air tankers have been requested to rejoin the firefight on Sunday morning.
Evacuation orders are in place for the following zones, meaning there is a lawful order for residents in the area to leave now:

Video from the area shows a large plume of smoke rising in the air above the mountains.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a Wildfire Smoke Advisory for areas surrounding Santa Clarita. Air quality levels are expected to be at their worst through 7 a.m. on Sunday.
Firefighters were braving dangerous, triple-digit heat as they tried to bring the flames under control.
In addition to neighborhoods near the flames, there is also a film studio nearby. Blue Cloud Ranch is about 250 acres and has been used in films such as “Iron Man” and “American Sniper.”
An evacuation shelter was established at the Castaic Sports Complex Community Room on Castaic Road. Small pets are welcome.
Bouquet Canyon Road at Vasquez Canyon Road is closed, according to California Highway Patrol – Newhall.
Officials with the Angeles National Forest say the last time the area experienced a wildfire was about 20 years ago.
