Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said officers from the Burlington detachment responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 5, just east of Highway 8, at approximately 7 a.m.

OPP said a 32-year-old woman who was seated in the front passenger seat of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene.
A two-year-old boy who was riding in the rear of the minivan suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local children’s hospital for treatment.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, officials said.
