A man suffered non life-threatening injuries after they were shot at a commercial property in Richmond Hill.

A man was taken to the hospital following a shooting in Richmond Hill on Wednesday afternoon, as police search for a suspect.

It happened near Yonge Street and Bay Thorn Drive, just south of Highway 407 in the Langstaff neighbourhood.

York Regional Police (YRP) said they were called to that area just before 12:30 p.m. for reports that an adult male victim had been shot by an unknown male suspect at “a commercial premise.”

The suspect fled the scene.

The victim, police said, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Police are, however, asking people to avoid the area.

A heavy police presence can be expected in that area while the investigation is ongoing, they added.
