Police first arrived on Bryngs Drive, Harwood, around mid-day on October 7, with the small street quickly becoming crowded with vehicles.

Residents said they were ‘shocked’ that such an investigation was underway in what they described as a ‘tight-knit’ and ‘stable’ community.

Resident Geoff Simister said: “It’s a bit of a shock, especially when it’s so close – we’ve only been here for about five months.

“Most unexpected – it’s such a lovely area as well.

“The police arrived about mid-day yesterday and stayed throughout the night. The whole road was full of police cars.

“We have no idea what happened unfortunately.

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said: “It’s quite a close-knit community around here – it’s very stable.

“Nothing like this has ever happened here before.

“We’re all doing ok, but it is a shock. “

The police have been reassuring neighbours.
