A fire ripped through a strip mall in Inglewood, causing the roof to collapse at two businesses on Thursday afternoon.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department battled a fire that broke out at a commercial strip mall in Inglewood Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the 700 block of E Hyde Park Boulevard at about 12:04 p.m. to a multi-unit commercial building, according to the L.A. County Fire Department.

The fire was upgraded to a 3rd alarm fire at 12:37 p.m., meaning it activates a significant increase of resources, such as fire engines, ladder trucks and personnel.

Fire officials said that crews then went into defensive mode.

AIR7 was over the scene where flames could be seen tearing through a roof that appeared to have collapsed. The fire department later confirmed that the roof of two buildings had collapsed.

It was not immediately known how many businesses were being impacted.

No injuries have been reported.

No further details were immediately available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
