SYRACUSE, N.Y. — President Donald Trump is scheduled to be in the City of Syracuse on Friday to endorse Bruce Blakeman, who is running against the current Governor, Kathy Hochul.

The Republican National Committee is hosting this rally at the Convention Center in Downtown Syracuse.

If you’re driving through or around Syracuse, expect a lot of traffic or roads to be closed.

Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley said, “You can expect that anytime the President’s moving, nobody else will be.”

From the Syracuse Hancock International Airport to his destination, every intersection will be closed, as well as every bridge.

Syracuse Hancock International is expecting minimal impact on those travelling that day. However, wherever the president travels, there is a “no-fly zone” above him that extends for many miles. A Sky Vector sky zone map shows a zone stretching from Auburn to Rome and from Oswego to Cortland.

With President Trump visiting the city, it’s an all-hands-on-deck operation between local and state law agencies and the Secret Service. This means that communication is crucial for the day of the visit.

The agencies working together include New York State Police, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Syracuse Police and the Secret Service. Sheriff Shelley also noted that if traffic becomes too much, they’re prepared to call for help from other local law enforcement agencies.

The Oncenter’s doors are scheduled to open at 3 p.m. The program begins at 5:30 p.m. President Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks at 7 p.m.

Protests have been planned for the same day that President Trump is in the city. Those have also been in consideration with law enforcement plans.
