Sen. Susan Collins and Democratic challenger Troy Jackson met again Thursday night for their second debate.
During WMTW’s debate, the candidates sparred over issues like corruption allegations, ICE and abortion, much as they did Tuesday night during their first debate on CBS13.
Once again, Jackson frequently tried to tie Collins to President Donald Trump, including ICE actions and the war with Iran.
At one point, Jackson accused Collins and her husband of profiting from the war, with Collins calling the accusation outrageous and demanding an apology.
“She could use her leverage to stop the war, but instead they are making money. Sen. Collins and her husband are making money more off this, and so are a lot of other people. That’s why this doesn’t stop. They got us into another forever war that we are never gonna get out of, and people in this state are feeling the effects of it,” Jackson said.”That is absolutely outrageous, and you owe me an apology. That is absolutely outrageous,” Collins said.
Jackson did not apologize.
Maine’s Senate race could prove central to control of the Senate.
Thursday night’s debate was the second of four debates in 10 days.
