WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Rangers’ season flashed before everyone’s eyes in one swift motion.
Goalie Igor Shesterkin fell flat on the ice after scrambling to get back in the crease while the Rangers defended the Capitals’ power play during the second period Friday night at Capital One Arena.

The star Russian netminder, who has been electric to start the season, slammed his right leg against the post while skating back into the crease to defend the play in front of him.
His leg appeared to bend back awkwardly during the sequence.

Without putting any weight on his right leg, Shesterkin had to be assisted off the ice.
The Rangers were tied 1-1 with the Capitals at the time of the incident.
Rookie Dylan Garand replaced Shesterkin in goal.
