1 hour agoRussia strikes kill 12 in Ukraine, Zelenskyy says, after Trump announces diesel deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that a dozen people were killed by Russian strikes, one day after President Donald Trump announced that Russia agreed to release diesel into the marketplace to ease the strain on global energy prices during the U.S.-Iran war.

“Today, Russia expressed its thanks for the lifting of sanctions on diesel exports by dropping five glide bombs on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia,” Zelenskyy wrote on X. “As of now, sadly, twelve people have been confirmed killed, including three children. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Another fourteen people have been injured, and two of them are in critical condition – the doctors are fighting to save their lives.”

Trump said Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to “immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter.”

Trump said the agreement came after the two had a “highly successful discussion.”

The development comes after Trump, less than a month ago, signed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 into law, which the White House said “authorizes and expands statutory sanctions, tariffs, and prohibitions on Russia and extends existing sanctions on Iran.”
