ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Three people are dead, and a fourth person was airlifted to a Texas hospital after a high-speed crash Saturday in northwest Albuquerque.
A spokesperson for Albuquerque Police says the crash occurred Saturday around 1:30 a.m. near Unser Boulevard Northwest and Ladera Drive Northwest.
According to police, a vehicle was traveling northbound on Unser Blvd. NW at a high rate of speed. The vehicle ran through a stop light at Unser and Ladera, then lost control before crashing through three trees and into the median.
Police say the vehicle then caught fire, with three occupants trapped inside. Those individuals died at the scene. First responders did pull a fourth person out of the wreckage. That person was airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas, for severe burns.
The names of the crash victims have not been released. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
