Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media after watching one player’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
After three weeks of international football, the Premier League returned on Saturday afternoon with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea winning against Leeds United and Bournemouth.
The last match of the day was contested between United and Spurs, who have both struggled so far in the 26/27 Premier League season. United, winless in three, welcomed Spurs, who are yet to win in the league this season, to Old Trafford, with both sides needing a much-improved performance.
In the first half, Spurs were evidently the better side, with Dominic Solanke and Mohammed Kudus failing to finish off two brilliant chances to score the opener.
After being booed off at half-time, United improved in the second period, with Bryan Mbeumo opening the scoring in the 71st minute with a fine finish.
However, the Red Devils failed to hold on as Sandro Tonali’s cross in the 91st minute was flicked in by Solanke, making it 1-1 in stoppage time.

Taking to social media, journalist Henry Winter and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge were far from impressed with the performance of Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian, who joined United from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, struggled to make an impact and was eventually replaced by Carlos Baleba in the 59th minute.
Winter wrote: “For all his creativity, the problem with Tielemans is he needs physicality and mobility around him. Spurs cutting through United’s midfield.
“Baleba, on the bench, cannot be involved soon enough (obv not deemed fit enough to start yet). An argument for a Baleba-Mainoo axis anyway.”
Goldbridge agreed, stating that Tielemans struggled vs Spurs, he wrote:
“Tielemans really struggles in this set up. Game is too quick for him to be doing this amount of defensive work.”

Aside from Winter and Goldbridge, the majority of Red Devils fans were also critical of Tielemans, with many agreeing that the midfielder had an off night.
One fan said: “Tielemans is shocking out there.” Another tweeted: “We need to be honest about Tielemans.”
A third fan added:
“This has been disgraceful from Tielemans so far.”
Someone else wrote: “If we are being honest, Tielemans shouldn’t be starting games for us maybe cup games.”
A fifth commented: “Tielemans so off the pace. Poor so far. Got to wake up.” Another fan said: “Tielemans is not built for matches like this,” someone agreed by saying: “Get Tielemans off as soon as possible. Shocking midfield performance so far. Might as well be a man down. He’s chasing shadows.”
Looking ahead, United will be back in action on Tuesday night when they take on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
