The GAA is facing a delicate balancing act between its longest-standing competition sponsor and a concerned group containing many present and past inter-county players who want the Association to end its partnerships with Allianz because of the findings of a report from UN’s special rapporteur for human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The report named a subsidiary of the insurance giant as one of a number of companies that was purchasing Israeli treasury bonds, which, it said, had a role in funding the “ongoing assault” on Gaza.
