President Donald Trump has reposted a rant from MAGA rapper Kid Rock in which he said he fears his grandchildren being caught up in a future “civil war over religious ideology” with the Muslim population of Michigan, his home state.
Speaking to Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, on her Fox News show My View Sunday, Rock weighed in on Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s midterms battle against Republican rival Mike Rogers and called the progressive “a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
“I was born in Dearborn, Michigan,” the musician told Trump. “So was my father. Raised there. My grandfather raised him there.
“And as we know – I don’t know if people understand how it got to be one of the biggest Arab populations outside of the Middle East in the world. I call it more of a religious ideology.
“I know there are extremists and there are milder versions of it. I don’t want my grandkids to one day have to fight some civil war over religious ideology. This is scary. I think El-Sayed’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

Trump sharing the clip of his inflammatory comment on Truth Social is just the latest example of his intervening in the campaign in the hope of stoking anti-Islam sentiment against El-Sayed.
Last week, the president used his social media platform to berate the candidate as a “Jihadist lunatic who hates our Country, the Black People of Detroit, and wants to see the U.S. fail” in one post and, in another, a “RADICAL Extremist” and “Terrorist Sympathizer.”
He also repeatedly referred to him as “Mohammad” or Mohammed,” the only point on which El-Sayed retaliated. “He knows my name is Abdul,” the Democrat wrote on X. “He says it everyday. But he’s not just attacking me. He’s attacking all of us.”
The president’s repeated slights on El-Sayed as a Muslim and “Communist” – which began as soon as he beat centrist state representative Haley Stevens in his party’s primary – echo his efforts to deride Zohran Mamdani last year before the latter won the New York City mayoral race and unexpectedly found himself in Trump’s good graces.
El-Sayed has given as good as he’s gotten, however, mocking the president over his close bond with his executive assistant Natalie Harp and referring sarcastically to Vice President JD Vance’s “Ohio charisma” after the latter said his candidacy appealed only to “self-hating white liberals.”
With the Michigan Senate race looking tight, Kid Rock joined Trump at a Saturday rally in Clarksville, Tennessee, at which he invoked his history with the state to tell the crowd: “I oppose Islamist extremists whose end goal is to impose Sharia law on this nation!”

He continued: “No religious cult or ideology gets to override our Constitution. Is Islam a religion, ideology, a cult? You will never have the right to force any American citizen to live under it. I guarantee you that.”
“We will never be one nation under Muhammad because we are and we always will be one nation under God,” he concluded, offering no evidence to support the alarmism he entertained.
Clearly impressed with his performance, the president later took to the stage and said he would “like it” if the rapper ran for office.
Rock’s relationship with Trump appears to have grown closer in recent years. A spat erupted within the Department of Defense earlier this year after an Army helicopter conducted a fly-by near his home in Nashville in late March and the star revealed this summer that he likes to call the president when he has been drinking to impress his friends.
However, his allegiance to the MAGA cause has not always been fruitful: it was announced in September that the Patriots Day Freedom Fest in Kentucky, at which he was slated to appear, had been canceled due to poor VIP ticket sales.
Elsewhere in his interview with Lara Trump, Rock also claimed, “The devil lives in Hollywood,” and assured the presenter: “I’ve seen him there. That’s not a joke. People are disgusting out there.”
