It’s been a quiet weekend in Detroit after the team’s road loss to the Montréal Canadiens on Saturday night, with the Red Wings returning to ice for practice on Monday morning. Outside of Detroit, however, the weekend has seen the rumor mill buzzing with noise about both Dylan Larkin and unsigned RFA Simon Edvinsson.

Insiders such as Pierre LeBrun and David Pagnotta have confirmed that the Red Wings have received calls from several teams including the Boston Bruins about the young defenseman as contract talks continue to drag on. The Red Wings are obviously loathe to part with the big blue liner considering both his defensive capabilities as Mo Seider’s partner and some of the offensive prowess he brings to the team.

In his two “full” seasons with the club, Edvinsson has been a 20+ point producer, something that not many other players currently wearing the jersey can claim.

Meanwhile, interest around Larkin may be heating up as teams like the Panthers have some early season injury woes. One of the more public suitors for Larkin, the Philadelphia Flyers, may have more trouble selling him on a move now than they did earlier in the summer, though.

The Flyers have officially made history by losing the first seven games of their season to start the year winless so far, setting a franchise low-mark. They are still four games behind the NHL record of eleven games lost to start the season, but Rick Tocchet’s team is definitely feeling the mode.

Red Wings Extra

Dominik Shine has been with the Red Wings and the Grand Rapids Griffins now for close to a decade, though he made his NHL debut with Detroit just a little under two years ago now. The longtime Griffins stalwart has been a key piece for the team as they have developed some of the Red Wings core prospects over the last half decade.

While it may get overlooked due to Jesse Kiiskinen’s four-point, hat trick performance, Shine potted his 100th professional goal with the Griffins last night, marking an important milestone for the 33-year-old Pinckney, MI native.
