Halifax Regional Police say a 33-year-old woman faces multiple charges after an incident Sunday that started with an alleged hit and run led to the driver being Tasered.

In a news release issued Sunday, police said they received a report of a hit and run on Dentith Road in Spryfield at 7:35 p.m. AT. The vehicle that fled, a grey sedan, headed toward Herring Cove Road.

Police said they located the vehicle and turned on their sirens, but stopped pursuing it over safety concerns because the sedan was travelling too fast.

At 8:20 p.m., police found the vehicle on Purcells Cove Road and used a spike belt to attempt to stop it. While the vehicle went over the belt, that didn’t stop it, and it continued inbound toward the Armdale roundabout.

Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a police car at the roundabout where it leads to Quinpool Road.

To arrest the driver, police said they had to Taser her.

Police said the charges include breach of conditions.

The news release did not say whether the other driver involved in the initial collision had any injuries.

CBC News has contacted the police department for further detail, but has not heard back.
