CiCi Nelson was in line to ride the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia when a cart pulled up with an empty seat and other riders in hysterics.
Nelson told CNN that as the cart pulled back into the loading station, one man was “freaking out, saying someone fell off” and was urging staff to call for help.
That’s when she noticed one seat sat empty with the safety bar loose, along with another young passenger who appeared to be covered in blood and injured.
“Once I saw the girl and the loose safety bar, my stomach dropped and I was terrified,” Nelson said.
Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene and Nelson said she and others in line were asked to leave the area.
“When we got back down from the ride, we could see the people in the cart after them stuck in the air,” Nelson said.
If her phone hadn’t lagged, Nelson said it could’ve been her on that same cart where the incident occurred. She had reserved a Flash Pass for the Goliath coaster but as she was pulling it up to show the ride attendant, her phone delayed.
“If it wasn’t for that one extra minute my group had to wait for my Flash app to show the ride attendant my QR code, we would’ve been on there,” Nelson said.
