BALAZS TOTH – 9

Pulled off a string of excellent saves. Two to deny Ballard, the second of which was top class. Also kept out Tanner’s header and Hirakawa’s effort. Then a late stop to deny Adebayo which secured the win.

RYAN ALEBIOSU – 7

Didn’t fly forward from wing-back but kept his side locked down defensively.

TOM ATCHESON – 7

A solid return to the defence. Played some nice passes into the wide areas and held his own at the back.

HAYDEN CARTER – 8

Flung himself at a number of shots to keep Bristol City at bay. It’s great to see him stringing a run of games together again.

SEAN MCLOUGHLIN – 7

Improved on the left of the back three. Perhaps more comfortable in that shape.

HARRY PICKERING – 7

Played a part in the build up to Afolayan’s shot which flew in. More assured defensively.

SAM MORSY – 8

Excellent at patrolling in front of the defence. Made a lot of interceptions, cutting out passes in the middle and setting Roves off on the attack.

KRISTI MONTGOMERY – 8

Fantastic once again. It’s amazing how much he has blossomed this season. The second half roulette was just wow.

RYOYA MORISHITA – 6

On the periphery of the game but always a willing runner. Didn’t combine much with Alebiosu down the right.

DAPO AFOLAYAN – 7

A brilliant, powerful strike from range which put Rovers ahead. Hit with the confidence of which he’s currently playing with.

TODD CANTWELL – 6

Led the line in what remains a slightly unnatural role to him. Linked play when it was into his feet but still better suited behind a number nine.

SUBSTITUTES:

MOUSSA BARADJI (CANTWELL, 63′) – 6

Moved around the pitch, first playing up front before moving into a deeper role.

JAYDEN FEVRIER (MORISHITA, 63′) – 6

Quiet after coming on with Rovers largely happy to protect what they had.

AUGUSTUS KARGBO (AFOLAYAN, 63′) – 6

Had a few good runs, one of which was halted unfairly but the referee waved play on.

ANDRI GUDJOHNSEN (MONTGOMERY, 73′) – 6

Relieved some of the pressure after coming on up top. Should start at the weekend after a midweek rest.

UNUSED SUBSTITUTES: PEARS, BEYUKU, GARRETT, DE NEVE, JORGENSEN.
