The US military said on Wednesday it destroyed a ship with links to Iran.
US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees military operations in the region, said on the platform X that US forces had attacked the vessel last week. It said the ship had been on a reconnaissance mission in the Gulf of Oman and had targeted US Navy ships. The crew had been brought to safety before the attack, it said.
Before the United States and Israel began their war against Iran at the end of February, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz between The Gulf and the Gulf of Oman had been largely uninterrupted.
After the war began, Iran brought shipping almost to a standstill with threats and attacks. The US military has also repeatedly attacked civilian Iranian ships.
