The 30-year-old mother-of-one was murdered by jealous ex-partner Daniel Murtagh in front of her six-year-old daughter Kya, in Arklow shortly before Christmas 2019.

Murtagh is currently serving life for her murder.

Nadine’s family have taken part in a documentary for Crime+Investigation TV which was broadcast this week and is being replayed on Saturday July 19 at 9pm.

The documentary tells how Nadine had been out at a family celebration in Arklow before returning to her apartment in St Mary’s Court, Arklow where evil Murtagh beat her so badly she was barely recognisable.

Nadine’s sister Phoebe broke down in tears as she told the documentary of the rushing to her apartment to find her dying after the attack,

“We were running around the apartment trying find her. We went into the kitchen and she was in the corner just thrown in the corner and there was blood absolutely everywhere. She was making gasping sounds.”

Nadine’s mother Claire said: “You couldn’t see her face but I kept telling her you’re okay. I’m here, your baby’s okay, your baby’s fine, don’t worry now, everything is going to be okay.

“I remember my instinct to save my daughter kicking in and doing what I need to do until the experts get here and save her.”

Nadine died three days later, on December 17, in St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.

Remorseless Murtagh, of Melrose Grove, Bawnogue, Clondalkin, Dublin, had pleaded guilty to Ms Lott’s manslaughter but had denied her murder.

The plea, however, was not accepted by the State and he was convicted by a unanimous verdict of murdering the mother of his child following two week trial and given a mandatory life sentence in 2021.

The former couple met in Australia and Nadine became pregnant.

She returned to Ireland first and he later came back but they broke up in 2016.

However, they remained in contact as they had a child together but he was controlling and verbally abusive and wanted to get back with her though she made it clear she did not want to get back with him.

At Murtagh’s sentence hearing Claire said her family was haunted by thoughts of her daughter’s “terror, fear, panic and cries” during the “prolonged, evil attack” carried out by a “monster”.

Mrs Lott told the jury her daughter had been beaten so badly by Murtagh she did not recognise her when she found her dying in the kitchen of her apartment.

“I couldn’t recognise her face, I couldn’t recognise it was Nadine,” she said.

She later told the court in a victim impact statement that “the total carnage” she encountered when she walked into the flat “can and never will be forgotten”.

“The house, her beautiful apartment, was the sight of a horror movie. Nadine’s blood splashed everywhere, broken glass, smashed mirrors, just total horror. When we got to the kitchen the screams of my son and my younger daughter, I will always carry with me.

“Nadine, my daughter, my baby was beyond recognition, she was gasping, blood pouring from her in so many places that all I could do was lie on the floor with her holding her hand trying to give comfort, comfort that I was there.”
