HARRISBURG, Pa. (WPVI) — Skill games are now banned if they are not at licensed casinos or truck stops in Pennsylvania.

The ban took effect at midnight on Oct. 14, meaning state police can remove active skill game machines from bars, convenience stores, and non-profits.

Dollar Plus in Philadelphia’s University City section removed its three skill game machines last week.

Some Lehigh Valley businesses and non-profits were also taking them out on Tuesday.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled over the summer that skill game machines are slot machines, and therefore illegal outside licensed casinos and truck stops.

The state legislature had 120 days to come up with a plan to tax and regulate them, but that never happened.
