They have buried the sickle!

Rabble-rousing House candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier continued her push for the city’s top cop to step aside Thursday — as she gushed over her frenemy Mayor Zohran Mamdani on the air.

The Democratic Socialists of America firebrand doubled down on her criticism of police Commissioner Jessica Tisch and called for her to resign on WNYC Radio – while downplaying the rift between her and Mamdani over her ongoing crusade against Hizzoner’s pick to lead the NYPD.

Chevalier – who sparked a DSA-backed pressure campaign trying to get the mayor to sack Tisch – claimed she just spoke with Mamdani and that they remain thick as socialist thieves.

“The fact that she rather than condemn, you know, the actions of ICE or and acknowledge that there needs to be a serious investigation into NYPD behavior,” Chevalier said. “I made it very clear that I think it is on Jessica Tisch to step down. I think she is the one who did not need the moment.”

The national DSA and several prominent lefty politicians have been calling for Tisch’s ouster since last week, when federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents shot an illegal immigrant trying to evade arrest in the Bronx.

Agents opened fire on Dominican Republic native and  alleged gangbanger Oscar Beldal as he tried to flee an ICE arrest in a car with a 5-year-old passenger.

Some liberal activists blamed the NYPD boss and said they broke pro-illegal immigrant “sanctuary laws” in the Empire State by working with federal immigration officials even though local cops weren’t involved in the shooting.

Chevalier twisted herself into a pretzel to not mention Mamdani’s role in appointing Tisch — a Zionist Jew — and his continued public support for his top cop.

Instead, she praised the mayor for promising some sort of investigation into the NYPD’s response to the shooting and handling of anti-ICE protests that sprung up after the shooting.

“I also think the mayor and I have or see eye-to-eye on most of this, right? He is already putting funds towards accountability, right, mechanisms of accountability to NYPD,” she said. “He’s already said that there’s going to be a robust investigation into what happened within 24 hours after the shooting and, you know, I think and he’s also said that he is working to disband the [Strategic Response Group].”

Chevalier and others in the DSA have repeatedly called for the disbanding of the SRG, which they claim is violent — a campaign promise that Mamdani has yet to fulfill.

She pushed back on the growing rift between Hizzoner and his handpicked comrade for the New York 13th congressional seat that was revealed by The Post, claiming the two talk all the time and have a “great relationship.”

“I don’t think much of what the New York Post says seriously,” she told host Bridget Bergin.

“When the mayor and I spoke about the article after it came out, we were cracking jokes about the ridiculousness of the article itself,” Chevalier continued. “Like there is no, there is nothing true about that New York Post article. And, you know, I think it’s – we have a great relationship.”

But Mamdani, when pressed at an unrelated press conference, refused to say if he had spoken with Chevalier while brushing off that his admin was “pissed” at her over her attacks on Tisch.

“I’ll start by saying those reports are completely false,” he said. “Darializa is not only a close friend, but also is an ally, and she will be an incredible champion for this city in Congress.”

A rep for the mayor later confirmed the two spoke.

One insider told The Post that Mamdani was not Chevalier’s biggest fan, with his staffers increasingly worried about her being a political liability.

But another source with knowledge of the two’s relationship noted that the situation was “tricky” because Chevalier is now dating the mayor’s City Hall attorney, Ramzi Kassem, who wields outsized power in the admin.

During her appearance on the radio station’s “Who’s Running This Place,” Chevalier complained about being pushed by a cop after getting in the face of a supervisor and screaming during an aggressive protest in The Bronx after the ICE shooting.

She whined that cops on scene were “not trying to really cooperate with the elected officials.”

“Whether it was, you know, just the standing around that was happening or the lack of answers that were being provided,” she bizarrely claimed.

Chevalier also said during her anti-law enforcement rant that she believed the NYPD should have arrested the ICE agents involved in the shooting.

“If you’re investigating a shooting, you would apprehend the shooter. But to my knowledge, to this day, the shooter has not been apprehended there, even though we know that it was an ICE agent.”

Chevalier won a Democratic Party primary against Rep. Adriano Espaillat in the overwhelmingly blue congressional district and is expected to cruise to victory in the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
