Donncha O’Connor won it all with Cork but is still going strong at club level aged 44.
“When you’re ringing lads like me in their 40s, things must be bad,” is the first quip that comes out of Donncha O’Connor’s mouth, but the former Cork football star is as relevant as ever.
O’Connor describes another year in a remarkable playing career – highlighted by the Rebels’ All-Ireland SFC triumph in 2010 – spanning almost 30 seasons as “tipping away” but the 44-year-old is doing his club performances a disservice.
