WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office said it will conduct an initial review of the deadly crash at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita.
The crash Saturday resulted in the deaths of a 6-year-old boy and 35-year-old man from McPherson, identified by police as Cole Adrian and Nicholas Schafer. Ten other people suffered injuries in the crash, while one person suffered a medical condition.
The review comes one day after the driver in the crash was released from police custody.
The Wichita Police Department said the 34-year-old Garden City woman was in the truck with two children when the crash occurred. Police said she had a valid driver’s license and no active warrants.
She was released from custody pending toxicology results and a mechanical inspection of her vehicle.
Speculation about what happened continues to circulate online, even leading the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office to dispute a rumor that a local deputy was involved.
Wichita police continue to state that the department will be the sole source to release confirmed and verifiable information about what happened.
