One person is dead after a crash on Deerfoot Trail in southeast Calgary, prompting the closure of all northbound lanes in the area.
Emergency crews were called to northbound Deerfoot Trail near 17 Avenue S.E. at about 1:10 p.m.
Alberta Health Services says one person was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.
Police said the driver involved remained at the scene.
The incident has led to the closure of all northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail between Peigan Trail and 17 Avenue SE. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Traffic delays are expected throughout the afternoon.
